Indonesian Chess Contingent Welcomed at Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia

Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia welcomed Indonesia’s chess contingent as they prepared for the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Samarkand in 2026. Players arrived at reception with their luggage and accreditation, in a setting that felt close to home. The hotel, within the Imam Al Bukhari Memorial Complex, offered a familiar Indonesian character while the teams prepared for one of the world’s leading team chess championships, held this year in the historic Silk Road city of Samarkand.
Indonesia fielded two teams: Open and Women. The Open team comprised GM Susanto Megaranto, IM Arif Abdul Hafiz, IM Gilbert Elroy Tarigan, IM Satria Duta Cahaya, and IM Nayaka Budhidharma. The Women’s team included WIM Diajeng Theresa Singgih, WIM Laysa Latifah, WIM Chelsie Monica Sihite, WIM Shafira Devi Herfesa, and WIM Ummi Fisabilillah.
Staying at Hotel Kampoeng Indonesia — one expression of Indonesian hospitality in the Imam Al Bukhari Memorial Complex — gave the national contingent a cultural setting they recognised while far from home. A comfortable place to rest and prepare between rounds allowed the players to focus on each stage of the Olympiad. Guests and supporters in Samarkand could follow Indonesia’s campaign knowing the athletes were lodged in a place that carries Indonesian character in the city.
